Markapuram: Prakasam Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand announced that the tunnel boring works of the Veligonda project will restart by October 20. He visited the Veligonda project, rehabilitation colonies and inspected the ongoing works along with JC S Nagalakshmi, RDO Ramakrishna Reddy, special land acquisition collector Hemasundar Venkatrao, special deputy collector Kondaiah and projects SE Reddaiah and other officials on Friday.

The collector interacted with the general manager of the MEGA engineering company, Srinath Reddy and inspected the damaged rollers and belts. He visited the Goguladinne rehabilitation colony and inspected the ongoing works and interacted with the officials. Speaking to the media, the collector said that efforts are being made to restart the tunnel works by October 20.

He announced that the head regulator works are going on as per schedule and already 65 per cent of them are completed. He said the infrastructure works in the rehabilitation colony being constructed at Goguladinne for 5,000 people in 115 acres will be completed by December.

He said the CC roads, culverts, drains are completed while three overhead tanks are being constructed now. He said that two anganwadi centres were constructed already while 3 more anganwadis and high school construction were yet be completed.

He said that he ordered the SE, RDO and special collector LA to conduct weekly review over progress of works and make sure the works in all rehabilitation colonies are completed as announced, to provide all infrastructure ready to shift the public to the rehabilitation colonies.
