Visakhapatnam: The MPs and MLAs have expressed their unhappiness over the bankers and alleged that they are not cooperating in implementation of welfare programmes. Pointing out the attitude of bankers, collector Pravin Kumar said that due to non-cooperation of bankers in implementing the welfare programmes, the Visakhapatnam district is in the last position among all districts in the state.
A meeting to review the subsidy linked bank loans was convened on Wednesday. Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu alleged that the bankers are not cooperating with elected representatives in implementation of government welfare programmes.
“Due to non-cooperation of bankers, the schemes including Sisu Tarun, Kishore and Mudra schemes are not functioning well in AP. During 2016-17 fiscal, Rs 10,000 crore loans sanctioned under Mudra scheme in the state, but in 2017-18, the bankers sanctioned Rs 5,500 crore loans only to small scale businessmen. I am asking the every bank branch manager should submit a report every month about the progress of Mudra loans,” MP Haribabu said.
Anakapalle MP M Srinivasa Rao demanded the administration to submit a detailed report on rejected applications by the bankers. Creating salary-based employment has become a big task to governments and the bankers should promote self-employment entrepreneurs, Srinivasa Rao said.
In the meeting, the collector directed the bankers to submit a detailed report on total number of applications, pending and grounding units by October 10. The collector also warned the bankers that the government would initiate action on bankers who failed to submit the report.
