Visakhapatnam: Collector Pravin Kumar inaugurated the Chief Minister Yuva Nestham (CMYN) office DRDA Complex here on Wednesday. The state government, as per its election assurance in 2014, has decided to pay unemployment allowance to the jobless youth from October 2. As a part of the programme, the Collector opened CMYN office.
Later, addressing the media, Pravin Kumar said that as many as 85,557 unemployed youth tried to login in the portal, however, the OTP was generated to 48,156 aspirants only. After screening, as many as 7,269 candidates got eligibility to get the unemployment allowance in the district, the Collector said.
Explaining about the fail to provide OTP, the Collector said there are several reasons, including mismatching of contact numbers against the Aadhaar card and the candidates could not have enrolled their names in the Smart Pulse Survey. The jobless must change their phone numbers in the Aadhaar cards, if they are using new numbers. They must have also enrolled their names in the Smart Pulse Survey, he added.
The government is not only paying the unemployment allowance to the eligible candidates, but would also send them to skill development programmes and provide jobs to them. The selected candidates would be sent for training under National Promote Apprenticeship and provide jobs at major industries and other companies in the district, Pravin Kumar said.
The aspirants should be aged between 22 and 35 years with graduation, PG or diploma. No one should have government jobs in the family, must have white ration card and also must have enrolled their names in the Smart Pulse Survey.
