Ongole: State AITUC deputy general secretary R Ravindranath on Sunday accused both the Central and the State governments of violating labour laws, while demanding scrapping of the contributory pension and re-introduction of the old scheme.

Inaugurating the 29th mahasabha of PWD Workshop and Canal Workers’ Union (AITUC) at Mallayya Lingam Bhavan here, he called upon the government employees to oppose the policies being pursued by the two governments.

State AITUC vice-president Velugu Radhakrishna Murthy demanded filling of vacant posts under the Nagarjunasagar right canal and sanction of permanent posts in the canal works. They wanted house-sites to be sanctioned for the Work-charged workers.

Prakasam district AITUC president S D Sardar, secretary P V R Choudary wanted the government to immediately divert the Godavari waters to the Nagarjunasagar Right Canal.
