District Collector Pravin Kumar warned the staff of GVMC Hospital located at Sriharipuram that inefficient staff would be sent homes, if they did not change their attitude in delivering the service to the patients
Visakhapatnam: District Collector Pravin Kumar warned the staff of GVMC Hospital located at Sriharipuram that inefficient staff would be sent homes, if they did not change their attitude in delivering the service to the patients.
While observing a smaller number of delivery cases in the hospital, the Collector asked the staff nurses in the hospital about the reasons. The staff replied that the locals are not coming to the hospital.
Expressing his dissent over the reply, the Collector terming lapses in the hospital asked them how the patients and pregnant women would join the hospital. When a nurse replied to the Collector that due to shortage of staff, the Collector asked her how many nurses are working in the hospital.
When she said three are working, Pravin Kumar took it very seriously and pointed out how many nurses are necessary at the hospital. “In agency areas like Paderu and Chintapalle, only one staff nurse is rendering service.
But in the city despite having three nurses they are not working propelry,” the Collector lamented. He directed the CMO of GVMC to take the nurses to the agency hospital for a visit to observe how the single nurse was working in the agency hospital.
Later, addressing the media, the Collector said that though the GVMC was striving to minimise the viral fevers, including dengue and malaria, due to unhygienic conditions in the vacant lands belonging to RINL, VPT, EPDCL, railways and other agencies, the fevers are not controlling in the city.
The Collector said that door to door survey will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday covering 5.80 lakh houses with 5,000 staff. Specially deputed staff would identify the larvae and kill at the breeding stage.
The Collector called upon the people to cooperate with the staff in curbing mosquito menace. “We are issuing authorisation letters to the staff to enter the houses to identify and kill the larvae. One can check the authorisation letter with the staff to allow them into the houses,” Pravin Kumar said.
District medical and health officer Dr Tirupathi Rao, chief medical officer of GVMC Dr Hemanth Kumar and district malaria officer Dr Mani were present.
