Tirupati: With an aim to create awareness on menstrual hygiene among the adolescent girls, and to educate the rural women the pre and post-natal care, Sri City Foundation in association with Unicharm India Private Ltd., chalked out a two-day awareness programme at the neighbouring villages.

The programme was held at Irugulam and Matherimitta in the vicinity of Sri City on Wednesday. Hygiene experts have educated girls on the ways to maintain healthy menstrual hygiene and distributed sanitary napkins. In the session organised for women with an assistance of local Anganwadi Centres, experts gave tips that may enhance or maintain their health during pregnancy and delivery, and after the birth of the baby.

On the first day, about 150 girl students and over 60 women attended the programme. Junichi Shinonaga, Takayuki Sasaki, Santosh Kumar Vijaya of Unicharm and the officials of Sri City Foundation were present during the programme. On Thursday, the programme would be held at Madanapalem and Cherivi villages.
