Nellore: Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy demanded the district administration to rectify mistakes in enrolment of voters in the constituency by end of October and warned that he would approach the High Court of Hyderabad and also knock the doors of the Election Commission.

MLA Sridhar Reddy met Nellore RDO AG Chinni Krishna at his chamber in the city here on Tuesday and discussed on erratic enrolment of voters which resulted in missing of around 80,000 votes. Speaking to the media, rural MLA said that there were 2.68 lakh voters during the last general elections.

“The votes have declined to 1.62 lakh last year. I had requested the authorities to enrol the voters in Nellore rural constituency. But, there are only 1.83 lakh votes in Nellore rural constituency now,” said the MLA.

Still, authorities yet to enrol 50,000 votes in Nellore rural constituency, he added. He also alleged that authorities have deleted votes in rural constituency and the issue came to fore when the party activists of YSRCP have made a survey in the villages.

“According to survey of YSRCP leaders in the constituency, authorities have deleted 1,500 votes in 33rd division, 613 votes in 34th division, 510 votes in 35th division, and 1,405 votes in 37th division. We have collected details of all deleted votes with proofs.

We have also collected written statements from the voters whom they had deleted in the list,” said MLA Sridhar Reddy. Authorities have to conduct special drive for reenrolment of voters keeping in view of the errors, he added. Later, the MLA submitted a memorandum to the RDO in this regard.
