Demanding to implement reduced power tariff on electricity bills to the aqua farmers, YSRCP district convener and Sarvepalli MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy staged a protest in front of Brahmadevam Electrical Substation in Muthukur mandal on Saturday
Nellore: Demanding to implement reduced power tariff on electricity bills to the aqua farmers, YSRCP district convener and Sarvepalli MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy staged a protest in front of Brahmadevam Electrical Substation in Muthukur mandal on Saturday.
YSRCP cadre and aqua farmers led by Kakani took out a rally in Brahmadevam village. They raised slogans against the ruling party for failing to implement the assurance.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sarvepalli MLA said that Telugu Desam government had announced that they would provide electricity only at Rs 2 per unit to the aqua farmers.
He alleged that the TD government had failed to save money on electricity bills of the aqua farmers as per their promise.
“Even though the TDP had promised, authorities are collecting normal charges per unit from the aqua farmers in the district.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had announced that they would provide Rs 2 per unit to the aqua farmers only after YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy had announced that he would provide power to aqua farmers at Rs 1.5 per unit,” said Govardhan Reddy.
The YSRCP leader also blamed that Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has been looting farmers instead of resolving their issues.
The MLA warned the party would launch an agitation if the government fails to implement its assurance with an immediate effect.
They handed over a memorandum to Transco officials at the substation in Brahmadevam.
