Nellore: Rural MLA K Sridhar Reddy staged a protest in front of the government hospital attached to the Medical College here on Tuesday, demanding to resolve various issues of the hospital. Sridhar Reddy has visited the maternity and children’s blocks in the hospital.
He enquired with the pregnant women about the issues being faced by them in the hospital. Patients also complained to the legislator that the Radiology department has been closed for the last one month. He also found that the lift was not working in the hospital. The MLA expressed displeasure over hospital authorities for not providing drinking water to the patients in maternity and children’s wards.
Sridhar Reddy said that he would not call off his protest until the hospital issues were resolved. Hospital Superintendent Dr Radha Krishna and Hospital Development Committee (HDC) Chairman Chatla Narasimha Rao have discussed with the MLA and assured him that they would resolve all issues within four days. On their assurance, Sridhar Reddy called off his protest.
Speaking to the media, Rural MLA said that there is no lighting facility in Out-Patient Block and at the entrances of the maternity and children’s blocks. He also lamented that pregnant women were facing severe difficulties to move in between the wards as the lift was not working for the last 10 days. “Attendants of the patients informed that there is no proper water supply in the hospital.
Some attendants said that they were forced to stay in open space due to lack of water in the hospital. The department of Radiology was closed for the past one month due to non-availability of radiologist,” the MLA said.
He demanded that the Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has to respond immediately for resolving the issues. He also questioned that how many deliveries were done in the government hospital compared to Narayana Medical College during the same period. He warned that he would launch an agitation if authorities fail to resolve the issues.
