Students agitate for stoppage of MBBS counselling in Vijayawada
Students belonging to various student organisations were arrested by the police when the BC, SC and ST associations and student organisations lay siege to NTR University of Health Sciences, demanding that the authorities stop MBBS UG second phase counseling and cancel the first phase counseling They also wanted implementation of GO 550 and allocate vacant seats to reserve candidates
​Vijayawada: Students belonging to various student organisations were arrested by the police when the BC, SC and ST associations and student organisations lay siege to NTR University of Health Sciences, demanding that the authorities stop MBBS UG second phase counseling and cancel the first phase counseling. They also wanted implementation of GO 550 and allocate vacant seats to reserve candidates.
A student leader Akhil Basha from Karnool tried to commit suicide by torching. However, the police swung into action and arrested the student leaders and took control of the situation. They shifted the arrested to nearby police stations here on Monday.
The students raised slogans against the university officials and the state government, demanding that the government cancel the first phase counseling and to stop the second phase counseling process.
AIYF State president and secretary Afsar, Lenin Babu, BC, SC and ST Minority Union leader Lakshmi Narasimha, DYFI State secretary S Naresh, YSRCP Youth Wing leader D Anji Reddy PDSU State president Rama Krishna and Jana Sena youth leader Harish along with other 35 students participated in the protest.
