Vijayawada: First year Civil Engineering student G Chandrahas studying at SRK Institute of Technology was selected for the National-level Karate Championship which will start from August 18, said principal Dr M Ekambaram Naidu here on Saturday.

He said that Karate Association of India and Indian Olympic Association would jointly organise ‘Renbukai Karate Cup Championship 2018’ at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. He said Chandrahas would compete with players from Nepal, Bhutan, and from India.

Naidu said that earlier Chandrahas has won at inter-state championship and was selected to the national championship. He said that 60 players from different countries and various states from the country will take part in the championship.

He said that Chandrahas has earlier won two sivler medals at national-level. College chairman BS Appa Rao, secretary Srikrishna and students wished him best of luck.
