Vijayawada: Thousands of members of the Joint Action Committee of State Government Contract and Outsourcing Employees, Teachers and Workers took out a protest rally from Vijayawada railway station to Dharna Chowk here on Monday.

The employees who have been working in contract and outsourcing jobs with a minimum service of four years to a maximum service of 18 years, demanded that the government regularise their posts and do justice in providing other allowances on par with regular employees.

The employees demanded the government to consider their demands failing which they would resort to Satyagraha on October 2, mass protest on October 22 and one-day strike across the state on November 15.

PDF MLCs floor leader V Balasubramanyam, Katti Narsimha Reddy, CITU secretary MA Gafoor, AITUC president Chelasani Rama Rao, FACTO leader Sabji Shaik and others of various organisations participated in the protest.

Addressing the gathering, MLC Balasubramanayam lambasted the government for the negligence on its part regarding contract and outsourcing employees. He demanded the government to consider their demands and do justice to the employees who were serving various organisations equal to regular employees and were paid very less salaries.

He said that the government has to consider their demands and revise 2/94 Act and regularise the outsourcing and contract employees, provide salaries equal to regular government employees and provide other allowances in accordance with regular employees and provide 180 days maternity leave to women.

He said that according to 11th PRC, the government should provide IR, DA, health cards, bus pass and job security. He also said if the employee dies while in service, a family member of the deceased should be given a job and Rs 20 lakh ex gratia.

He also demanded the government to pay salary on 1st of every month and provide 12 months salary to contract and outsourcing employees working in the education department.
