Facilities to be improved in 200 junior colleges in 2 years

Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said that they will improve facilities in around 200 junior colleges in the State in the coming two years.
The Minister visited 34th and 36th divisions in the city on Wednesday. He interacted with the students of Venkatagiri Rajah’s College and said he had studied in the same college and also worked as lecturer for some time. He said he had bagged gold medals in degree and PG studies and started own institutions with confidence on his own.
The Minister pointed out that earlier people could not get seats in local colleges like VR College, Sarvodaya College, DKW, Venugopala Swamy, KAC and GVR colleges and now the situation is different with presence of many colleges.
He said his main intention was to bring the past glory back to these institutions. He said there are 2,500 schools in 110 municipalities across the State and 303 students achieved 10 out of 10 GPA in the recent SSC results only because of efforts they had put in.
He said the State government had allocated Rs 24,000 crore for education sector and the main objective was to improve the performance of students. He said 43 students of Municipal Residential Junior College secured good marks in the first year Intermediate exams and 25 students from 13 residential junior colleges got admissions in reputed varsities and institutions in the country.
This year, he said, they were focusing on 40 junior colleges for improving teaching standards with an aim to achieve good ranks. Learning material from Narayana institutions is being supplied to them and 200 colleges across the State would be concentrated in the coming two years. He exuded confidence that Nellore would be the best in the country within 3-4 years.
Narayana said they were also planning to improve 1,400 burial grounds across the State by providing facilities. He also visited ZP High School located on Podalakur Road and interacted with the children. He guided them on how to prepare for exams and achieve good ranks.
Mayor SK Abdul Aziz, Commissioner Alim Basha, DEO Samuel, Project Officer of SSA Viswanath, Chairman of the Hospital Development Committee Ch Narasimha Rao, corporator Rajanaidu and others were present.
