Vijayawada: All arrangements have been made for the peaceful conduct of polling for RTC employees recognised union. Over 50,000 employees have registered their names for the voting to be held on Thursday across the state. The biggest union, National Mazdoor Union and Employees Union and some other unions are in the fray.

In the capital region of Amaravati, arrangements were made for the polling under the limits of 27 RTC depots in Krishna and Guntur districts. Polling will be held in 13 depots in Guntur district and 14 depots in Krishna district from 5 am to 6 pm. Labour department is monitoring the polls in co-ordination of RTC officials. The unions canvassed vigorously to register their victory.

Only one union or an alliance of unions will get recognition. The government or the RTC management can hold talks with the recognised union only. Last time, the NMU won the elections andit is fighting alone this year. On the other hand, Employees Union (EU) joined hands with two other unions to win the elections.
