Guntur: Municipal Corporation has decided to give tap connections to all eligible under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme here soon.

The aim of the GMC is to give tap connections to all households. If tap connection is given under the AMRUT scheme, the beneficiaries would have to pay tap donations in installments.

When all the households have tap connections, there is no need for municipality to lay street taps. PMAY housing beneficiaries are getting the facility of free tap.

The GMC recently conducted a tap mela in the city and received applications from the house owners and verification was also conducted to give tap connections.

The GMC is assigning contractors with the job of giving tap connection. When more applications received from a particular area, the GMC is giving more tap connections within a short time.

Comprehensive drinking water scheme work is nearing completion. Some reservoirs are already functioning in the city.

At present, the GMC is in a position to supply sufficient drinking water to the people. Taking this into consideration, the GMC is ready to give another 50,000 tap connections.

When more tap connections are given, drinking water problem will be solved in the city.
