Vijayawada: A day passed since a silk sari presented to Goddess Kanakadurga by a devotee in in the temple went missing but the temple authorities and the trust board members are clueless till Monday on the incident.

A silk sari presented by a devotee from Vundavalli worth Rs 18,000 has been missing since Sunday. The devotees raised a hue and cry over the missing of sari in broad daylight. Some devotees even suggested that a complaint be lodged with I Town police on the missing of sari.

However, trust board chairman Y Gowranga Babu told media persons on Monday that the board had no intention of lodging a complaint to police. He exuded confidence that the temple authorities would trace the sari at any cost.

It was alleged that a woman member of the trust board had taken the sari, which was woven in Madanapalle of Chittoor for presenting to it on the occasion of Aashada Maasam.

YSRCP West Assembly constituency in-charge Velampalli Srinivas alleged that a trust board member had stolen the sari and demanded a probe into the episode.
