Tirupati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has laid foundation stone for Dr BR Ambedkar Knowledge Park to be established in the Sri Venkateswara University (SVU).
During his visit to Tirupati on Saturday, he has unveiled the plaques of laying foundation stones for various buildings at SVU and Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV).
He inaugurated the Technology Business Incubator at SPMVV built at a cost of Rs 5 crore and laid foundations for the construction of Krishnaveni Hostel, Sabari Hostel, Humanities Block– II, Nethra Command Control Centre and Rural Women Technology Park.
Ministers K Atchannaidu, N Amaranatha Reddy and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, SVU V-C Prof A Damodaram and SPMVV V-C Prof V Durga Bhavani have participated.
Soon after his arrival at Tarakarama Stadium, the Chief Minister inaugurated the final match of volleyball tournament between SVU men’s team and SV Veterinary University (SVVU) men’s team held on the occasion of ‘Gnana Bheri’ programme.
Apart from Ministers, MLA M Suguna, SETVEN CEO S Lakshmi, TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav and other officials were present.
Meanwhile, several students have expressed happiness in participating such a programme. MV Sadhana, who is studying Nuclear Medicine in SVIMS has said that the programme has enabled her to know about various government schemes.
The food and drinking arrangements were extraordinary, she felt. An MBBS third year student of SP Medical College for Women D Nikhitha said that through the stalls in the stadium, she came to know several things and there is every need to organise similar programmes in every district.
On the contrary, G Sai Hema Choudary of BTech 3rd year felt that there should have been more stalls as they make the visitor to get new ideas on new experiments.
Earlier, CM Naidu has visited various stalls in the stadium and showed interest in knowing various concepts in the stalls. After the meeting was commenced, an AISF activist tried to approach the Chief Minister to give him a representation by jumping the barricade.
The cops immediately took him into their control along with some others, who were raising slogans.
When SVVU students A Vyshnavi and Ch Muralikrishna presented their project “Value added milk products–An entrepreneurship programme for youth,” Naidu has praised Vaishnavi for her bold speech.
He reacted to the presentation saying food industry has abundant opportunities in the future. Responding to the project by SV Agricultural College students, who presented a project on “Village adoption: Transfer of technology for sustainable agriculture,” Naidu has asked SVU V-C Prof A Damodaram to take up similar outreach project by appointing multi-disciplinary teams.
SVU should act as nodal agency for this and District Collector should coordinate the things.
Students, who participate in the filed visits, will be given cash incentives and marks will be awarded in their examinations, he stated.
Chandrababu has suggested that this should be started from Chittoor district and from this academic year onwards.
