Visakhapatnam: iTAAP (Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh (iTAAP) is the industry association for the IT, BPM and electronics sectors, informed that 18,000 jobs will be generated in various leading IT and ITES companies in Visakhapatnam city in one year. The iTAAP has framed an action plan for a foster growth and sustainable development of the industry and works closely with industry, academia, Central and State governments.
Along with iTAAP delegates, university heads, Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu, disclosed the details of the employment opportunities in the state. Addressing a media conference here on Saturday, he said that major companies, including Franklin Templeton, Conduent, WNS Global Services, Tech Mahindra, Patra BPO, Concentrix, ACN Infotech, Miracle Software and Symbiosis Technologies are hiring 10,000 next year. In addition, there are 3,000 job vacancies in 25 to 30 medium enterprises. Other major brands are in the final stages of setting up their establishments in the state to ensure minimum 5,000 jobs, the MP said.
Many leading companies started hiring for regular voice, non-voice BPO jobs and specialised jobs. They are offering starting salaries of Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000 for freshers with graduation and salaries of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 for the special skilled force. However, due to the lack of skilled workforce, the industry is facing a shortage of hands, the MP said. Companies are hiring those with B Pharma, M Pharma, B Tech, B Com and M Com.
Healthcare needs B Pharma, M Pharma and Life Sciences. The finance and accounts need B Com, M Com, BBM and MBA Finance students. GIS and CAD jobs need students with Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Diploma holders. Core IT companies need candidates with good knowledge of Java, C# or Python and front-end technologies, Haribabu said. iTAAP and AU MoU: iTAAP is working with Andhra University to create exclusive short-term courses. These courses will make the students' job ready. iTAAP will sign an MoU with Andhra University for the courses.
