To coincide with the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri on Saturday, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha RSVPs Odisha chair and ISKCON of Tirupati took out a massive procession of Lord Jagannath with Balabhadra and Subhadra in a chariot, which went for 4 hours through the main roads of Tirupati
Tirupati: To coincide with the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri on Saturday, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP)'s Odisha chair and ISKCON of Tirupati took out a massive procession of Lord Jagannath with Balabhadra and Subhadra in a chariot, which went for 4 hours through the main roads of Tirupati.
Before starting the Rath Yatra, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra were consecrated amidst chanting of hymns from Vedas by the students of Vidyapeetha.
After consecrated on the chariot, as per the custom which followed at Puri, (where the lineage of Gajapati Kings, who brooms the ground with a golden broom stick) here at Vidyapeetha, the Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof V Muralidhara Sharma took the replica of golden broom stick and cleansed around the chariot.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sharma appealed to the devotees to pray for Lord Jagannath for drive away evilness in human beings and peace to prevail in the entire world.
The procession was attended by the RSVP In-charge Registrar Prof GSR Krishnamurthy, Prof Satyanaraynachayra, Dr Radhagovinda Tripathy, Dr Giri Kumar, Dr Sachidananadamurthy, Dr AK Nanda and hundreds of devotees, who came from nook and corner of Chittoor district.
