Tirupati: A meeting of various youth organisations and political parties held here on Saturday, demanded the revenue and civic authorities to take steps for the removal of the encroachment of the main road by the Tirupati Urban police department.

Speakers including Lok Satta Party state secretary Balasubramanyam, Aam Aadmi Party national council member Ranjith Kumar, SFI district president Giridhar Reddy and RSU district president Krishna Reddy said that it was very sad that the police, who have to extend protection to common people and maintain law and order resorted to encroachment of the 80 feet road adjacent to the Police Parade Grounds in New Balaji Colony in the pilgrim city.

They said that the police blocked the road passing in between Police Parade Grounds and youth hostel, linking various localities where many government offices are also located, and causing lot of inconvenience.

Nava Nirmana Sangham (NNS) convener N Nagesh said that he along with many social activists and leaders have been representing to the authorities for restoring the road which is essential to ease congestion on the AIR bypass road but in vain.

Nagesh said he represented to the Urban SP for the removal of encroachment but only rebuffed and added that the youth and mass organisations will take a joint agitation if the encroachment of the road was not taken up.
