Vijayawada: Engineering and degree colleges in the city are offering various courses and highlighting the industry linkages and collaborations with the institutions to attract the students.
The managements of the colleges are organising seminars, workshops, guest lecturers, college events, industry-ready programames, sports, cultural programmes and other extra circular activities to bring out the hidden talent from the students.
They are also providing courses combined with latest emerging topics, including Internet of Things (IoT), data-warehousing and data mining and other management courses, which are in demand and would fetch a job after the completion of the course.
Most of the colleges are organising one programme a week apart from the academics from each department. Most of the colleges are organising guest lectures by professors of top universities across the country.
In the present scenario, the parents are also very selective in choosing the colleges to admit their children in the colleges which are organising job-assured courses and other advanced courses related to technology.
K Krishna, father of an engineering student, speaking to The Hans India, said that before joining his son in Siddhartha Engineering College, he had a through search of various courses on net offered by the engineering colleges available in and around Vijayawada.
He was particular about the courses offered by the college and enquired about seminars and guest lecturers organised by the college by each department annually. He said that guest lectures and extra circular activities would give a morale boost to the students, he added.
Andhra Loyola College of Engineering and Technology principal O Mahesh said that they are offering courses in six disciplines with experienced and efficient faculty to impart quality education to the students. Mahesh said on an average they organise about 50 programmes which include workshops, seminars, guest lectures, personality development programmes, cultural and other events, he added.
Siddhartha Arts and Science College principal Dr Meka Ramesh said they are offering all the advanced courses for the Degree, PG and Management students.
He said that they have a separate placement cell headed by K Sridhar which will take care of the placement of the students by organising campus interviews and other activities. He expressed satisfaction that most of their students are getting jobs due to industrial linkage and collaboration.
