Vijayawada: Hailing the decision of the state government to implement Telugu as official language in the administration and throughout the state by constituting Telugu Language Development Authority, Telugu Bhashodyama Samakhya president Dr Samala Ramesh Babu said in a statement here on Wednesday that it is high time that the government implemented the government order in toto while implementing the Telugu as official language in letter and spirit.
He thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for issuing the government order for the constitution of the authority though the demand has been pending for a long time. He recalled that Telugu Bhashodyama Samakhya has been agitating for the last two decades for the implementation of Telugu as official language and constitution of the Telugu Language Development Authority.
He hoped that the state government would take initiative in enacting a law giving the Authority a legal status in the forthcoming Assembly sessions for the effective implementation of the official language in the state.
