Kadapa: BJP State president K Lakshminarayana said the Centre was helping in AP’s development by sanctioning several welfare schemes for improving the living standards of people.
He said the Centre had sanctioned crores of rupees for the development of State and several Centrally-sponsored schemes were being implemented in AP.
Speaking to the mediapersons here on Sunday, he said that there would be no compromise on setting up steel plant in both Telugu states as the Union government was very clear on its part over the issue. But the problem is availability of land, mines, other infrastructure facilities including returns on investment.
He said people of Kadapa need not perform agitations for the steel plant as the Centre was already pursuing the issue in various angles. He said that Steel Authority of India limited (SAIL) wanted to secure clarification from the State government in its latest report submitted to the Centre two days ago.
When asked over the State government’s contention that it had submitted number of representations to SAIL, he alleged that the State government’s reports lacked clarity. The State government failed to provide a consistent report on land allocation or selection of place for the steel plant, he said.
He alleged that the State was adopting a negative attitude towards setting up the steel plant. He wondered why Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu failed to raise the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 29 trips to New Delhi. Kanna exuded confidence that the BJP would fare well in AP in 2019 elections. BJP Kadapa district president Srinatha Reddy and others were present.
