Visakhapatnam: On an average, 350 patents are being filed in the state, which is lower compared to other states in the country, said BK Sahu, Manager and In-charge, NRDC-TISC & IPFC, Visakhapatnam.
He was speaking at the final day of a two-day national workshop on ‘Patent search’ conducted by National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) at Rushikonda here on Friday.
During workshop, NRDC-TISC signed Memorandum of Agreements (MoA) for commercialising Intellectual Property (IPs) and technologies with three universities Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University located at Sabbavaram in Visakhapatnam, Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) in Rajamahendravaram and Sagi Ramakrishnam Raju Engineering College (SRKREC) in Bhimavaram and Kakinada.
The NRDC is engaged to broaden and strengthen the technology resource base by fostering long-term relationships with R&D organiations, MSMEs, PSUs, academia, technical organisations, industries and also individual inventors.
This MoA will provide expert services in IPR management, technology transfer, training, techno-commercial evaluation of technologies developed by faculty/students, linkages with research funding agencies, linking to Startup India Mission and other relevant services.
Speaking to The Hans India, Andrew Czajkowski, head of World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), said that this workshop is aimed at presenting in depth knowledge on various IP search databases and enable navigation steps of searching for patent literature for finding out the state-of-the-art technologies.
BK Sahu, Manager and In-charge, NRDC-TISC & IPFC, Visakhapatnam, said that the programme, providing visibility on various prominent search tools and strategies. More than 130 participants took part from various MSMEs, start-ups, industries, universities, research institutes, academia and other prospective entrepreneurs. The resource persons from Cell for IPR Promotions and Management (CIPAM) & TISC and other Government of India organisations were present at the workshop.
