In a move to improve the passenger amenities for senior citizens and patients in particular at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, MP K Haribabu commissioned two escalators on platform No 1 and 8 and renovated Central Foot-over-Bridge on Tuesday. Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur also present on the occasion.
Visakhapatnam: In a move to improve the passenger amenities for senior citizens and patients in particular at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, MP K Haribabu commissioned two escalators on platform No 1 and 8 and renovated Central Foot-over-Bridge on Tuesday. Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur also present on the occasion.
Presently, there are two escalators in operation on platform No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 in addition to two lifts on platform No. 6, 7 and 8. The two new escalators were established at a cost of Rs 1.7 crore.
To decongest the increasing footfall to the city railway station, the Central Foot-over-Bridge (FOB) was renovated and widened. The six metres wide Central FoB was completed at a cost of Rs 2 crore. A pet bottle crusher, which was provided under CSR funds by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Visakh Refinery and PCL also inaugurated by MP Haribabu.
Visakhapatnam Railway Station DRM Mukul Saran Mathur said that high speed Wi-Fi, world class food plazas, lifts and escalator facilities in eight platforms, Vistadome Coach for tourists to Araku, executive lounge at middle entrance of on platform No. 1, as many as 10 purified mineral water vending machines, platform shelters on uncovered portion extended, wall paintings were provided to create aesthetic environment, creative art gallery and Vintage Crane were provided. He also informed about the UTS on mobile being implemented in the station.
