District Industries Centre General Manager D David Sundar Kumar said that the government is committed to bring transparency and simplification in the taxation regime and improving ease of doing business in the State.
Kakinada: The industrial sector in East Godavari district is showing signs of brisk development considering the slew of mega units which are in advanced stages of grounding.
It may be recalled here that GO 108 has provided much-needed boost to various industrial units in the form of investment subsidy, tax relief, power tariff concessions and trademark registration. Several units, with a combined investment of Rs 2,000 crore, are in different stages of completion with prospects of providing employment to 15,000 persons.
The prospects of emergence of small and medium enterprises in the district have brightened. Some of the units that are in advanced stages of grounding are Avanti Frozen Foods, Yaleswaram will invest Rs 90 crore and provide employment to 900 persons, Yash Vegetable Oils at Vakalapudi in Kakinada rural will invest Rs 45 crore and provide employment to 60 persons and Divis Laboratories (Tondangi) will invest Rs 790 crore and provide employment to 3,800 persons.
The other units that are in the process of beginning commercial production are Aparna Ceramics at ITDA Peddapuram will invest Rs 300 crore and provide employment to 500 persons in both technical and non-technical sections, Nekkanti Sea Foods in Kakinada rural will invest Rs 37 crore and provide employment to 380 persons and a manufacturing unit CPF Industries Private Limited will invest Rs 450 crore and provide employment to 700 persons at Dharmavaram in Yaleswaram mandal.
District Industries Centre General Manager D David Sundar Kumar said that the government is committed to bring transparency and simplification in the taxation regime and improving ease of doing business in the State. The government is willing to be a facilitator rather than a regulator, he added.
He said through single-desk system, all these projects have been cleared and added that some of these units are expected to start operations in the final quarter of the year.
