Vijayawada: Telugu-speaking people are born with leadership qualities and most of them choose to migrate to places which are rich in resources, said the AP Planning Board vice-chairman C Kutumba Rao. He was the chief guest at a programme on ‘Pravasa Telugu Vani’ organised by the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said Telugu people had migrated to many places across the world and still they safeguard their values, tradition and culture. Burma Telugu Association advisor Yerra (Burma) Naidu said that people who migrated at the time of Satavahana Rulers and British rule were still living in Burma. He said the names of kings, cities and gods were in Telugu and people talk Telugu language at homes and maintain Telugu culture and tradition.

The military rule formed in 1964 in Burma was helpful to Telugu communities and encouraged to protect Telugu culture and tradition, he added. CCVA founder Y Harish Chandra Prasad, CEO Dr E Sivanagi Reddy and others were present.
