Asthma attacks people of all ages

Kakinada: Asthma is a chronic disease and it causes swelling and burning sensation in the lungs, said noted doctor Kumar Yadav. He participated in an awareness programme on asthma at the Boat Club Park here on Thursday.

He said that the vessels that lead to the lungs will be tightened and blocks the airway of the patient. Therefore, it becomes difficult for an asthma patient to breathe. He also said that this disease was not related to age and it might attack at any age. He informed that it generally begins in the childhood and there were many reasons that would affect the people. Genetic reason, tobacco chewing, atmosphere, dirt, dust, mildew and strong sprays are some of the reasons that could affect a person’s lungs.

He told that continuous coughing at night time, difficulty in breathing, pressure on the chest are some of the symptoms of asthma. He advised that apart from taking medicines to asthma, the patients should keep away from asthma-provoking materials. Later, Yadav examined the patients and distributed medicines.
