Vijayawada: The members of Student Federation of India (SFI) gave a representation to Krishna District Collector, B Lakshmikantham requesting him to take action against the land grabber who occupied 6.8 acres land belonging to SRR and CVR College. The Collector visited the college to participate in a programme on National Voters Day on Thursday.

After receiving the representation, he assured the SFI members and the college students that action would be taken on the issue. The SFI city vice-president, O Yesu Babu said that a representation was given to the Collector requesting him to intervene in the occupied land issue and solve the issue, so that the land may be used by the college as playground or for extension of the classrooms.

“About 6.8 acres of land is occupied out of the 14 acre college land,” said the official. SFI was fighting in favour of the college to retain the land ever since the land grabbed. He further alleged that construction work has begun in the land. A representation was given the Collector to take action regarding the issue. The SFI city secretary, Ch Sumanth, the college student leader, T Rakesh and students were present.
