Vijayawada: ‘Sangeeta Sanmandali’, established 22 years ago, has been conducting Sadguru Sri Thyagaraja Swamy Aradhana Sangeetostavam every year to commemorate the birthday of Thyagaraja Swamy. The organisers started the music festival from January 1 this year. As part of the celebrations, the musicians chanted ‘Pancharatna kritis’ at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Sunday. The event is being conducted with the assistance of the Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Well-known musicians like Malladi Suribabu, Pemmaraju Suryarao, KS Govindarajan, Popuri Gowrinath, CVP Sastry, Vishnubhotla Sisters, M Sudhakar, Anjana Sudhakar, K Sasidhar, Ganduri Sreenivasa Murthy, DV Mohanakrishna, K Sadguru Charan, M Vijaya Kumar, PS Phalgun, K Lakshmi Narasamma, N Anuvratha, Hemadri Chandrakanth, Surabhi A Phani Bhushan, Kundurthi Aravind, Karthikeya Adinarayana Sarma and others rendered five Thyagaraja keerthanas ‘Jagadanandkaraka’ in Nata ragam, ‘Dudukugala’ in Gowla ragam, ‘Sadhinchene oo Manasa’ in Arabhi ragam, ‘Kanakana ruchira’ in Varali ragam and ‘Endaro Mahanubhavulu’ in Sree ragam.
After this, Pancharatna Keerthana ganam, regular morning music session commenced with the vocal concert of Ravi Balaji from Australia. Chavali Srinivas on Violin and Malladi Sivananda Yasasvi on mridangam accompanied Ravi. This was followed by other vocal concerts of Kasturi Gopalarao, Meena Kalyanaraman from Chennai, Dhulipala Vasavi from Hyderabad and Ravi Sudarshan from Australia.
These vocal concerts supported by B Ramanaiah, K Subrahmanya Raju and BV Durga Bhavani on violin and Maruthi Raghuram, Burra Sriram, S Hanumantha Rao and Malladi Sivananda Yasasvi on mridangam.
