Old bridge collapses,traffic hit

Kakinada: An old bridge collapsed at the Moolasthanam Agraharam in Alamuru mandal here on early Wednesday.

Some farm labourers were walking on the bridge when it suddenly caved-in with a huge thud. The bridge had been in a ruined state for a few years and was primary route for commuters, farmers and labourers in the surrounding Lanka villages. Traffic was stalled owing to the sudden collapse.

Travellers and vendors anticipate difficulty in commute as a longer route is the alternative that leads to the mandal headquarters of Alamuru. The Moolasthanam Agraharam villagers and the commuters have been requesting the officials to construct a new bridge to replace the collapsed old bridge.
