Two ward members walked out from the Panchayat meeting of Akiveedu village, in protest against the Secretary’s attitude towards the members. The protesting members alleged that the Panchayat Secretary denied divulging how the funds were utilised despite repeated requests.

The Panchayati Sarpanch Gontla Ganapati, presided over the Panchayati general body meeting held here on Wednesday.
The members of the Panchayat raised several problems in the village. They pointed out that the Overhead Service Reservoir (OHSR) situated at Doragari Cheruvu area had been leaking for the past few days and that they had requested the OHSR be repaired to control the leakage.
Ward Member Shaik Subhani suggested the Panchayat to start a sub-centre of Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the main centre of the village. Poor people were unable to go to Government hospital. In reply, the Sarpanch Ganapati said, “The Mee-Seva Kendra building in ‘S’ turning on National Highway was under consideration to set up the PHC Sub-Centre.”
Member of 13th ward Sheikh Hussain alleged that there were irregularities in granting the contracts in the Panchayat. “The Secretary should give an explanation on the allegations of irregularities,” he demanded.
Another member Pilla Narasimha Rao alleged that the Secretary did not reveal the expenditure of the Panchayat. He pointed out that the members were demanding to give a report on the expenditure of the Panchayat since a few years now.
He, along with another member Sheikh Hussain walked out protesting the Panchayat Secretary’s attitude. MPTC members Gudala Mariyamma, Pandrangi Lakshmi, Lazar, Padala Ratnamani, Krishnaveni, Sayamma, D Padma and others participated in the meeting.
