He donated 350 ML blood at the camp.Speaking on the occasion, he said that he donated blood to set aside misconceptions about the blood donation. Blood donation can save lives. The person who donates the blood would be healthy, he added and pointed out that in recent days, the road accident rate was high and the injured people were succumbing to injuries due to lack of blood.
In view of the situation, it was decided to collect 10,000 units blood every year. He called upon the youth to donate blood and save lives. He suggested Lion’s Club, Rotary Club and other voluntary organisations to conduct blood donation camps in a big way. He said that the Thalassemia patients require blood for survival and the West Godavari district Red Cross was in the forefront in supplying blood to those patients.
He said that a special building in Eluru Government Hospital would be constructed exclusively for the Thalassemia patients at a cost of Rs 45 lakh.
MLC Ramu Surya Rao, Ramachandra Engineering College Correspondent K Venugopal Rao, College Principal Dola Sanjay, Administrative Officer Saikrishna, HDFC Eluru Branch manager Nalamati Srinivasa Rao, Kota Srinivas Gupta, Red Cross Secretary Tanniru Bujji, Coordinator Chittibabu and others participated in the programme.
