The three-day Amaravati Children’s Film Festival began on a colourful note at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Sunday. With a vision to nurture and bring out the creative skills of children, the State government in association with Safe Advisory, Ellanar Group and Kolla Entertainments launched the first-ever film festival for children.

With a vision to nurture and bring out the creative skills of children, the State government in association with Safe Advisory, Ellanar Group and Kolla Entertainments launched the first-ever film festival for children.
The festival aims at bringing in some of the best national and interntional films and filmmakers on to one platform to showcase their stories, inspire and educate children and help bring out creative skills of the children. In addition to film screening, children from different schools will be engaged in a 48-hour film challenge that will enable the kids to explore the art of filmmaking closely.
A team of writers and technicians from Film and Television Institute of India will be leading the challenge. The jury comprised of director/writer Aparna Malladi and producer, Raj Kandukuri will judge the films made during the ‘48-hour challenge.’
On the closure of the festival, they will announce the best film. The jury also shares feedback on the films, thereby creating a learning atmosphere for the participants.
Films like Black Cat, Stanley Ka Dabba, Kaka Muttai were screened on the first day.
Earlier, speaking at the festival inauguration, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner J Nivas said that the children should be allowed to do things on their own to help them grow professionals.
Krishna District Collector Lakshmikantam called upon the children to put to use the heart in addition to brain and hands to make their work perfect. He said that the festival provided them opportunities to learn more and exhibit their talent.
Roja Ramani, actor and dubbing artist, informed the children that it was 50th year of playing her first role in ‘Bhakta Prahlada’ movie. She hoped the film festival would help the students to provide maximum happiness.
Mayor K Sridhar also spoke.
On Monday, the films to be screened are Poorna and Anjali. Film actor Tarun also participate in film appreciation talk.
