72-year-old Goranta Vijayarama Raju bagged medals in the 9th Asian Athletics Championship held in China recently.
Goranta Vijaya Rama Raju represented India in the recently concluded 20TH Asia Masters Athletics Championships held at Rugao (China) and bagged one gold medal in High Jump and Bronze medal in Pole-vault.
The veteran athlete met Endowments Minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao at his Camp office in Tadepalligudem on Thursday.
The veteran athlete hails from Tadepalligudem and has participated in all events of Athletes and bagged the medals in two events. The Minister Manikyala Rao
congratulated Vijayarama Raju who bagged the medals at the age of 72 and called on the youth to take him as inspiration to achieve their goals. The veteran has participated in 9th Asian Athletics Championship earlier and bagged 10 gold, six silver and seven bronze medals and stood as the first veteran athlete to get highest medals in south India.
