Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has created a niche for itself where the Ertiga MPV is concerned. Launched in April 2012, the company has noted outstanding sales over past four years. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s total domestic sales stands 3 lakh, units which equates to sales of around 5,500 units per month ever since launch.
Now with the new generation Swift revealed in Japan earlier this week, it is certain that the new gen updates will shared with the DZire and the Ertiga, all of which are based on the same platform. A digital artist has created two renders, showcasing the new generation Ertiga.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the second best selling MPV in India following Toyota Innova Crysta. Sales have been steadily rising over past few months and July 2016 sales went up 6,625 units. The company also launched a facelift version of Ertiga MPV in October 2015 with an added equipment list while the diesel variant received an SHVS hybrid system to the 1.3 liter diesel variant.
Competitive pricing, three rows of seating and a number of first in class features have allowed the Maruti Ertiga to be a crowd puller in domestic markets.
Its competitive pricing has also drawn attention while the diesel hybrid variant was exempted from the Odd-Even scheme in Delhi/NCR while the model also took advantage of subsidy under the Government of India’s FAME initiative bringing down prices by Rs 13,000.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sells in petrol, diesel and CNG powertrain options and its success has made rivals such as Hyundai India and General Motors put plans on hold to launch their own MPVs.
