Ch Srinivasa Reddy, Head of Department of Botany of PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science, has been awarded PhD by Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) for his thesis titled `In vitro and in vivo evaluation of Commiphora caudata (Wt and Arn) Eng bark and Maba buxifolia (Rottb) Juss stem’.

Ch Srinivasa Reddy, Head of Department of Botany of PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science, has been awarded PhD by Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) for his thesis titled `In vitro and in vivo evaluation of Commiphora caudata (Wt and Arn) Eng bark and Maba buxifolia (Rottb) Juss stem’. He did his research under the guidance of K Ammani, assistant professor of ANU.

Speaking on the thesis, Srinivasa Reddy said his research on controlling diabetes in albino rats using the chemical extracts from the bark of `Konda Mamidi’ and stem of `Uttikayalu’ yielded positive results. The herbal extracts can be used to treat diabetes patients in future after the conduct of more research on the efficacy of bark and stem of the plant species, he said.

Siddhartha College principal M Ramesh, director V Babu Rao and convener PLN Prasad, Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education president Nalluri Venkateswarlu, secretary P Lakshmana Rao and treasurer S Venkateswara Rao congratulated Srinivasa Reddy for getting doctorate.
