Komaram Bhim fought for the rights of Girijans on water resources (jal), forest products (jungle) and lands (jameen). While fighting against the then Nizam’s army, he died in 1940. Annually, Girijan people from surrounding villages assemble at Jodeghat to pay tributes to him.

As per information, the State Government has recently agreed to establish an exclusive university for the benefit of Girijans. The university would be established in Adilabad district and officials are making efforts to locate suitable land. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) provides subsidy up to 40 per cent to Girijans to purchase farm equipment. However, several of the tribal people are not getting these benefits.

The Girijans complain that Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), in the name of establishing Open Cast Mines (OCMs), has been trying to occupy Girijan habitations and forcing them to vacate their places.

There are no basic amenities in the surrounding 12 villages of Jodeghat. Locals urge the government to take up development activities at the villages.
