B R Ambedkar's services recalled

Adilabad: Rich tributes were paid by leaders of various political parties, members of organisations and officials to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar on his 123rd birthday celebrations at different places in Adilabad district on Sunday.

At a programme organised by Social Welfare Department in Adilabad, District Collector Dr A Ashok and other officials garlanded the portrait of Dr Ambedkar and paid tributes to him. Later, the Collector, MLA Jogu Ramanna and other leaders and Dalit organizations garlanded the statue of Baba Saheb at Ambedkar Chowk in the town.

They recalled the services of the architect of The Constitution of India to the nation and also to the people belonging to downtrodden sections. The activists of Samata Sainik Dal took out a march-past and took a pledge that they would strive to achieve the goals of Dr Ambedkar.

Karimnagar: The 123rd birthday celebrations of Dr B R Ambedkar were held on a grand note in the district on Sunday. The leaders garlanded the statue of Ambedkar at Court Chowrastha in the town. Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu had cut a cake to mark the occasion.

They also garlanded the portrait of Baba Saheb and paid tributes to him. He recalled the services of Dr Ambedkar to the nation as the architect of Constitution and also to the people belonging to SCs, STs and other weaker sections. Government Whip Arepalli Mohan, MP Ponnam Prabhakar, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, District Collector Smitha Sabharwal, several leaders and members of Dalit organizations participated in the celebrations.

Nizamabad: District Collector Christina Z Chongthu garlanded the statue of Bharat Ratna B R Ambedkar at Phulong Chowrastha in the town. Nizamabad Urban MLA Yendala Lakshminarayana, Jukkal MLA Hanmanth Shinde, SP Vikram Jeet Duggal and other officials and leaders of Dalit ortganisations were present.

Ms Christina gave a call to people to strive to achieve the goals of the Baba Saheb and treat the people belonging to SCs and STs on par with others. Later, the Collector participated in the birth day celebrations of Ambedkar held at Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium. She directed the officials to implement the SC, ST Sub- Plan in the district strictly.

Collector's absence regretted Khammam: Doctors and other medical staff at Maithri Hospital garlanded the portrait of Dr Ambedkar to mark his birth anniversary. They held a medical camp at the hospital on the occasion and distributed medicines to the needy patients at the camp. Noted cardiologist Gopinath and other doctors participated in the programme.

The members of Dr Ambedkar Committee garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar in the town. However, as the District Collector Siddharth Jain did not turn up at the function, the members expressed their resentment over the Collector's absence. The Collector had failed to participate in the celebrations held at Bhakta Ramadasu Kalakshetram.
