Agriculture is one of the most surviving tools in the Indian subcontinent. However, it has become a high investing and low yielding affair due to the excess use of synthetic chemicals which are becoming harmful to the ecosystem. So in order to overcome the problem and to protect our ecosystem, organic farming has been a vital tool, which is practised without using harmful chemicals. In organic farming, the chemicals are replaced by bio-fertilizers, which also helps to maintain soil fertility.
With scientific research, it is noticed that the usage of chemicals would lead to damage of soil organisms while organic farming can support the life of soil organisms and gives high yielding.
There is a good demand for organic vegetables in the market but it has been challenging for the farmers who had to work hard to cultivate them in nature. Each farmer individually cultivates crops to achieve yield while reducing the burden of such work.
In some parts of the state, the farmers have been cultivating crops without chemicals. This farmers who initially cultivated the rice crop is now focusing more on vegetables to yield organically.
Vegetable plants are grown in canopies. In between each of the crops, the other crops are planted and the varieties of vegetables are yielded organically.
If we can see how these crops are yielded organically, each plant absorbs the nutrients from the soil and grows stronger in the form of a vine that grows on the canopy. With this the crop receives the air and light it needs and also it will help to spray the fertilizer incorrect order.
The aim of organic farming is to maintain the fertility of the soil and to produce chemical-free food. There are various techniques for organic farming such as crop rotation which helps to grow different crops in the same area according to the seasons and it is used to avoid agriculture pests.
The second one is vermicomposting in which different worms like white worms, earthworms and red wrigglers are nixed with kitchen waste and other waste and used as fertilizers in the agriculture fields and the third Biological pest control in which living organisms are used to protect plants from chemicals.
Branding the organic vegetable has become the challenge for the farmers with the Advent of big markets grabbing all the attention of the customers. As per the organic farming expert Siva Prasad Raju, the best way to brand the organic crops is to bring the awareness in the people and should explain the difference between the chemical-free crops and the other crops. Moreover, customers need to told stories about the past experiences of Organic crops.
He also advised the people to think twice before the purchase of vegetables and fruits. And take the decision to opt for organic vegetables.
