In order to commemorate the city's 469th birthday, Perdigao, a Brazilian food firm, went all out and broke the record for the longest line of torpedo sandwiches. On January 25 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Perdigao broke the Guinness World Records with an astounding line made up of 1,180 sandwiches. The attempt took place at the iconic Parque Ibirapuera, one of Sao Paulo's most well-known monuments and one of the continent's biggest urban parks.

The world record-breaking event was planned as a part of Mortandela Week, featuring N de Niver Sampa, a company promotional event that ran from January 22 to January 31. One of the company's most significant offerings is mortadella, which is well-known throughout the nation. The business employed its Mortadela Ouro for the endeavour.

official adjudicator Carlos Tapia was present to supervise the attempt and ensure that all rules were adhered to. Over a thousand sandwiches were counted by Tapia, who ensured that each one was at least 30 centimetres long.
The torpedo sandwiches were made by a group of over 40 individuals who worked for more than five hours in the kitchen to make the required quantity of food. The event was available to the public at Fundacao Bienal, a location inside Parque Ibirapuera, where attendees had the opportunity to find out more about how smoked mortadella is made and see how the enormous line of sandwiches was set up.
The sandwiches were devoured by attendees after the official adjudicator from Guinness World Records affirmed that the record was successful. Additionally, about 20% of the sandwiches were expressly made to be donated to the non-profit Pozinho Solidário project, which is dedicated to delivering food to those in need.
