MKCG student goes missing from campus

Brahmapur: Concerns are growing over the disappearance of Sagar Sahu, a 20-year-old first-year MBBS student at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, who has been missing since August 31. Despite intensive search efforts by both local police and his family, investigators have yet to find any confirmed leads regarding his whereabouts.

Sagar, a native of Kapalika under Kuakhia police station in Jajpur district, was reportedly last seen in the vicinity of Brahmapur railway station. His mobile phone was later recovered near the railway tracks, prompting police to examine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Following a complaint lodged by the Dean-cum-Principal of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Hari Krushna Dalai, Baidyanathpur police launched an investigation. Brahmapur SP Saravana Vivek M said police team has been formed to trace Sagar. Police are examining CCTV footage from the railway station and adjoining areas and are also looking into the student’s mobile phone records and other possible leads.

His friends and fellow students are also being questioned as part of the investigation. Police have alerted other police stations and are making efforts to trace the missing student.

Meanwhile, Sagar’s father and family members have reached Brahmapur and are anxiously waiting for information about him. “I talked with my son over the phone on Saturday night when he asked me to send some money and that was the last call”, said his father. “I sent Rs 5,000 to him on Sunday night. He had his examination on Monday. I tried to contact him to confirm whether he had received the money. But there was no reply. I called his hostel room mates on Monday at 10 pm and they said that Sagar left the hostel in the morning to attend examination but has not returned. I informed the local police station who advised us to go to Brahmapur BNPur police station,” his father added.

With more than 72 hours having passed since his disappearance, the family has appealed to anyone who may have information on his whereabouts to immediately inform the police. Police have urged members of the public to cooperate with the investigation and share any credible information that could help trace Sagar.
