Woman Brutally Murdered In Guwahati, Severed Head Recovered From Refrigerator

A horrific murder has been revealed in Guwahati's Basisthapur locality where a 25-year-old woman was allegedly killed in her apartment. Her severed head was found in a refrigerator at the home and her fingers were also reportedly cut off.

The victim is identified as Riya Talukdar Goswami. The accused allegedly severed her head, put it in a polythene bag, and kept it in the refrigerator, according to investigators, who described the murder as extremely brutal. It is also said that her fingers were also cut off.

According to reports, the woman's husband is believed to be the prime suspect in the case and has turned himself in to the police. A search is underway for the circumstances and motive behind the killing.

According to news agency ANI, Anurag Sharma, ADCP (East) of Guwahati Police Commissionerate, confirmed that Riya's husband, Ramanujan Goswami, is the prime accused in the case.

A member of police was informed about the suspected murder and the incident was brought to light from the woman's residence at Basisthapur.

On a search of the flat, investigators reportedly detected the severed head of the woman in a polythene bag in a refrigerator.

The finding has led to an intensive forensic and criminal investigation of the circumstances of the murder.

The husband of the victim has turned surrendered himself to the police and is being treated as the main suspect in the case.

He has now been questioned by investigators to see how he came to kill the woman and if anyone else was involved. This exact motive has not yet been clearly made public.

Forensic evidence collected from the flat will also be analysed by police and the events leading up to the woman's death will be investigated.

The gruesome killing has brought the case to the fore in Guwahati but has yet to reveal certain aspects of the killing, such as the exact time and situation of the killing.

Police are also trying to determine the sequence of events and evidence to help explain what happened in the flat.
