Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut meets Sharad Pawar
Mumbai : Amid the power tussle in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray on Thursday evening said that the delay in the government formation is not good.
On being asked about talks with the BJP, he said that his party hasn't heard anything from the BJP, its ally with which it is embroiled in a tussle. However, he added that his father and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will take the final call on government formation.
The younger Thackeray was interacting with media after meeting Governor B.S. Koshiyari. However , he told media persons that he "discussed farmers issues".
Earlier in the day, Aditya Thackeray proposed Eknath Shinde's name for the post of leader of the legislature party and Sunil Prabhu's name for the post of Chief Whip.
He tweeted: "As an elected MLA, it was my privilege to propose the name of @mieknathshinde ji as the leader of the Shiv Sena Parliamentary Party for the working the legislature.
@prabhu_suneel ji has been elected as chief whip of the party for the legislature."
Uddhav Thackeray put paid to reports that the party was softening its stance on power sharing .
Lashing out at Fadnavis, Thackeray said either he or Fadnavis was lying. This refers to Fadnavis' claims while being elected as the leader of BJP legislative party, that the the 'Mahayuti' was going to form its government soon in the state.
Thackeray said the Shiv Sena wanted what was decided, an indication that the party was refusing to budge from the 50:50 demand.
"We don't want anything more than what was decided and not less than what has been decided," Uddhav Thackeray said at a meeting of the newly elected Sena MLAs on Thursday.
Shiv Sena has issued a list of seven MLAs supporting the party and has claimed its number in the Maharashtra Assembly to be 63, which is seven more than what it bagged in the recently concluded state Assembly elections.
Maharashtra Congress leaders on Thursday met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar in Mumbai.
State Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat and former chief ministers Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan were among those who visited Pawar's residence here, sources said.
