Tripura revoke 67000 fake ration cards
Tripura government has cancelled 67,000 fake ration cards involving 2.81 lakh people, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said. "After the BJP government came to power in March 2018, over 67,000 fake ration cards were revoked.
Agartala/Aizawl : Tripura government has cancelled 67,000 fake ration cards involving 2.81 lakh people, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said. "After the BJP government came to power in March 2018, over 67,000 fake ration cards were revoked.
These forged ration cards were issued during the previous (Left Front) government," the Chief Minister said. The Food Minister told IANS that of the 2,81,000 people, who are involved with the false ration cards, a large number of them might be of Bangladeshi nationals.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP), on a complaint filed by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over alleged police atrocities during anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protests in the State.
The commission has given six weeks time to the UP government to reply to its notice.
Assam is likely to conduct an exercise to identify the State's indigenous Muslim population and segregate them from Bangladeshi origin people, even as doubts over the accuracy of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) are yet to be addressed.
As per the plans, the survey will be conducted to identify people of four communities -- Goria, Moria, Desi and Jolah of the tea tribes, considered as indigenous.
Assam Welfare of Minorities Minister Ranjit Dutta has convened a meeting on Tuesday with various organisations of the four communities and other stakeholders to finalise the plan.
"Assam has about 1.3 crore Muslims population, of which around 90 lakh are of Bangladeshi origin. The remaining 40 lakh are from different tribes and they need to be identified," Assam Minority Development Board Chairman Muminul Aowal told PTI.
