Sikkim's Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state, with a special focus on the Hindu community, on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, also known as Bada Dashain. This festival is a significant cultural and religious celebration for the Hindu community, and CM Tamang marked the occasion by visiting the Thakurbari Mandir to offer prayers. He prayed for the well-being and prosperity of Sikkim's residents, seeking the blessings of Maa Durga, who symbolizes power and embodies Nari-Shakti, representing the strength and dynamism of women.
The Chief Minister also took this opportunity to review the relief and development efforts underway in the state. He expressed his hope that the celebrations would promote peace, unity, and fraternity among the people of Sikkim and the entire nation. However, the recent tragedy resulting from a devastating cloud burst-induced river surge, which claimed several lives, has cast a somber shadow over the festivities.
Sikkim's residents are currently in mourning and are facing significant hardships due to this tragedy. During these challenging times, CM Tamang called upon everyone to offer prayers for the departed souls and to contribute to the restoration of what has been disrupted and scattered.
CM Tamang further interacted with individuals affected by recent events and distributed essential relief materials at the Tasa Tengay Government Secondary School in Chungthang. CM Tamang received the people's blessings for addressing various issues, including land allocation for new homes and the reopening of roads, which benefit both tourists and local residents.
Additionally, CM Tamang visited the Governor of Sikkim, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, at Raj Bhavan Gangtok, extending warm greetings on the occasion of Durga Puja (Dasain).
