Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India was facing challenges on multiple fronts today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India was facing challenges on multiple fronts today. Addressing the 95th Annual Plenary session of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) via video-conference on Thursday, PM Modi referred to floods, locusts, earthquakes, cyclones and other problems which currently plagued the country. PM Modi said that the country is currently battling the coronavirus pandemic along with the rest of the world. He said that our countrymen were facing all these challenges together.
PM Modi complimented ICC on serving the nation for 95 years, which he described as a great achievement. PM Modi said that ICC had experienced the pangs of partition. He pointed out that ICC has been a part of the country's growth story.
The Prime Minister said that it is the collective will of our society which would determine the way forward. Opportunities would not come the way of those who give up with a negative frame of mind, he said. PM Modi asserted that the collective well of our society to face multiple challenges together is a great strength which we have. It is also a cure to several problems which come our way.
The Prime Minister said that difficulties have always strengthened Indian society and made the people more resilient. PM Modi said that he could see the same determination on the faces of ICC members as also the people of India.
The Prime Minister added that this difficult period should be turned into an opportunity and should be converted into a turning point. The coronavirus pandemic has opened up new opportunities for India in becoming self-reliant, he said.
This would be possible by focusing on self-reliance and transforming our country into Atma Nirbhar Bharat, he said.
The Prime Minister said that we should aim at being self-reliant in coal, chemicals, fertilisers, solar panels, electronic manufacturing industry, chip manufacturing industry, aviation sector and several other areas.
