New Delhi: Parliamentary proceedings were repeatedly disrupted this week as members from Opposition parties demanded a debate on the Delhi riots, in which 53 people were killed.

Both Houses have now been adjourned till March 11. The government says it's ready for a discussion of the violence after Holi -- that's according to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

On Thursday, members in both Houses discussed India's response to the coronavirus outbreak after briefings from Harsh Vardhan, the central health minister.

Seven Congress MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha for the remainder of the Budget Session after they snatched papers from the Speaker's table.

Their party claims the decision to remove them was "dictatorial" and aimed at weakening the Opposition's voice before a discussion of the Delhi riots.
