NEW DELHI: As there have been instances of employees in uniforms portraying the company in bad light. The National carrier Air India has issued a gag order for its employees which is asking them to refrain from speaking to the media.

Air India in a letter to its employees had said that, "It has been observed that there are instances where employees have interacted with media or posted videos in uniform in Air India aircraft, aired views on electronic and social media portraying the company in bad light despite the fact that time and again instructions have been issued advising employees to refrain from doing so."

Before offering any reaction on social media the employees will be having to take permission from the CMD, the letter further stated.

"The employee will make a request through a proper channel which will be processed through personnel department and explicit approval of the CMD will be obtained," the letter read.

Amrita Sharan the Director of Air India in a statement had said that, "The employee will make a request through a proper channel which will be processed through personnel department and explicit approval of the CMD will be obtained."

Action would be initiated against the employees who violates the order, said Air India.

"It may be noted that any violation of above will be viewed very seriously and appropriate action as per applicable service regulations. Instructions would be taken against those found violating the same."
