New Delhi: Gusty winds coupled with a light rain swept across the national capital on Tuesday morning, bringing the mercury down to provide relief to Delhiites from the hot weather.

"The minimum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal for this time of the year," a MeT official said.

The weatherman said light rains were witnessed in various areas of the city, however, the official reading of the rainfall recorded was not available yet.

Humidity was recorded at 52 per cent at 8.30 am.

Delhi continued to witness rising mercury levels, with the maximum temperature on Monday hovering around 40 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.

However, the temperatures are expected to drop on Tuesday as the weatherman has forecast cloudy skies and the gusty winds to continue during the day.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may touch 28 degrees Celsius.

The Met department attributed the change in the temperatures to a western disturbance that will have an impact over several parts of north India, including the national capital.
